Carrie Schwab Pomerantz was appointed president of the Charles Schwab Corporation Foundation, charged with providing strategic leadership and oversight to all corporate giving programs.
The Corporation Foundation was formed in 1993 to promote good corporate citizenship and encourage meaningful community participation for Schwab employees. The Foundation facilitates these efforts through an employee matching gift program, support of employee volunteerism, direct grants, and sponsorships and support of important fund-raising events.
During 2001, the Foundation matched more than $4.6 million in employee contributions to charitable organizations, and contributed an additional $1.7 million in direct grants including $1 million to the American Red Cross in the aftermath of September 11. Approximately 30 percent of Schwab employees participated in the matching gift program, which is the cornerstone of the Foundation's programs.
Schwab Pomerantz's appointment is in addition to her current role of vice president/consumer education, and founder and leader of Women Investing Now, Schwab's initiative to educate and empower women investors. Schwab Pomerantz is daughter of company founder, chairman, and Co-CEO Charles Schwab and has been with the company since 1976. Over the past two decades, she has worked in Schwab regional and local investment center offices in California, Georgia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., advising clients and leading new marketing projects.
