Mike Sangiacomo is president and CEO of Norcal Waste Systems, Inc., a 100 percent employee owned company which provides refuse collection, recycling and disposal services to more than 50 communities, primarily in California.
Norcal is headquartered in San Francisco where it provides service through its subsidiary companies, Sunset Scavenger Company, Golden Gate Disposal & Recycling Company, Sanitary Fill Company, and West Coast Recycling Company. Norcal is a leader in recycling programs, including its innovative post consumer foodwaste composting program in San Francisco, the first major city in the United States to offer this service.
Born on November 19, 1949, the son of an Italian immigrant who spent his working life collecting garbage amd recyclables in San Francisco, Sangaicomo was educated in local schools, graduating from the University of San Francisco in 1971 with a bachelor's of science degree in Business Administration. Sangiacomo lives in San Francisco with his wife, Mary, and their four children.
