As the only American woman ever to hold three different AAU titles at different times, in the 100-meters, 200-meters and long jump, she joined the U.S. National team for the 1963 Pan-American Games in Brazil. After Gold finishes in both the 100-meters and 400-meter relay team, she went to the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
In Japan she etched her name in Olympic history‚ breaking Wilma Rudolph's Olympic record with her 200-meter Gold medal sprint. McGuire-Duvall left Tokyo with a total of three medals: her 200-meter Gold, and Silver for the 100-meter and 400-meter relay.
Upon her return she used her dedication and drive for success in the classroom by teaching public elementary school students in several states. In 1977, McGuire-Duvall moved to Oakland with her husband, Charles. Together they own and operate three McDonald's restaurants.
McGuire-Duvall was the 1991 recipient of the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award. The award recognizes former student-athletes who have gone on to distinguished careers 25 years after completing their college athletic careers.
