Born and raised in Santa Clara County, Jim Cunneen was appointed President of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce in March 2001. Prior to his work at the Chamber, Cunneen served in the State Assembly from 1994-2000.
Cunneen began his career in 1985 working for former Congressman Ed Zschau as a top Legislative Aide. He moved back to the Silicon Valley in 1987 where he worked closely with former State Senator Becky Morgan, and later became the Top District Aide for Congressman Tom Campbell (1986-1992).
Cunneen was born and raised in Santa Clara County. Cunneen's unique understanding of Santa Clara County stems from his deep family roots - his maternal ancestors were Quicksilver miners in San Jose's Almaden Valley in the 1800's and early 1900s.
Cunneen attended public school in Palo Alto, CA. He then attended the University of California, Los Angeles, earning a bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1984. He and his wife Jennifer have two children and live in the Almaden Valley of San Jose.
