Julie Croteau has the distinction of being the first woman to play men's NCAA baseball and the first woman to coach men's NCAA baseball.
She overcame considerable obstacles to compete in the non-traditional sport of baseball. Julie sued her high school for the right to play on the boys' baseball team in 1988 and lost the suit.
More determined than ever, Croteau walked on at St. Mary's College of Maryland (Division III) and made the men's baseball team as a freshman. She received national media attention for this accomplishment.
After playing in college, Croteau continued her career by coaching men's NCAA baseball at Western New England COllege (Div. III) and then at the University of Massachusetts (Div. I).
Croteau currently works at Bear Sterns, San Francisco, as an Investment Advisor and Stockbroker.
