San Francisco 2012 - In Their Own Words
"Riders will not only leave their hearts in San Francisco, they will leave every last bit of their will and determination as they are challenged by the demanding race course that runs through the City by the Bay. It will provide awesome vistas for live spectators and television. The Golden Gate commands the backdrop to the start/finish and the trip across the bridge will provide the signature shot of the 2012 Games. The cyclists will weave their way through the historic Spanish settlement in the Presidio, dash through bustling Chinatown and North Beach, zigzag their way up the world's 'crookedest street,' all with views of Alcatraz, Coit Tower and the Bay.
The weather and training for the event are ideal. When training, riders will be able to leave the Olympic Village and within minutes be on quiet, country-like roads that climb through the Santa Cruz Mountains and lead to rolling rides along the Pacific."
