Walter Johnson, San Francisco AFL-CIO Labor Council

Walter Johnson is the Secretary-Treasurer of the San Francisco Labor Council, AFL-CIO. He is the President Emeritus, Department of Store Employees Union Local 1100 for the United Food & Commercial Workers Union (UFCW).

In 1957, Johnson became the Business Agent for Local 1100 and the was elected President in 1958. On Jan. 1, 1965, he became the executive officer. He served on the UFCW International Union Advisory Board, UFCW International Foreigh Affairs Committee, UFCW International National Department Store Committee and was founder of the President James F. Housewrite Scholarship Fund.

Johnson was born in Amenia, ND on April 22, 1924. He served in the U.S. Army World War II from 1943 to 1946. Johnson is married to Jane and they have three grown children - Lawrence, Eric and Emily.
