Roger Grossman, Marin Independent Journal

Roger Grossman has extensive experience in marketing and publishing. While attending Seattle University, Roger started his newspaper career as a copy boy with the Seattle Post Intelligencer 36 years ago. He rose to the position of display advertising sales manager before leaving the Hearst-owned morning daily paper. He then served as general sales manager for radio station KBRD in Seattle.

Since leaving his hometown of Seattle, he has served as advertising director of the Ann Arbor News, general manager and publisher of the Sentinel Publishing Co. in San Diego, and publisher of the Coronado Journal.

Roger has been with ANG Newspapers, the parent owner of the Marin Independent Journal, for 14 years. He has served a variety of roles including, publisher of the Tri-Valley Herald, publisher of the Oakland Tribune, vice president of administration, vice president of advertising and publisher of the San Mateo County Times. He became publisher of the Marin Independent Journal on October 1, 2000.

Roger is a board member of the North Bay Council, United Way of the Bay Area, United Way of Marin, Marin Ballet, Friends of Marin Center, Novato Chamber of Commerce, the Mt. Burdell Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, School to Career Partnership, Film Institute of Northern California and Chairman of Special Olympics, Northern California and Nevada. A former member of the San Mateo Rotary Club, Roger is a Paul Harris Fellow.

Roger has two sons, Trent and Elliott.
